When it comes to charitable giving, a new study shows American altruism may be on the fast track to surpass pre-recession levels. And officials say Hampton Roads' numbers are reflecting the national trend.
According to the "Giving USA Annual Report on Philanthropy," Americans donated an estimated $335.17 billion to charitable causes in 2013. That's a 3 percent increase over 2012 numbers and a 22 percent increase since 2009.
